Mumbai: Mumbai Indians' bowlers have their job cut out. Bowl your overs within the stipulated time or lose your skipper for the next game. Sachin Tendulkar has been fined USD 40,000 after his team failed to maintain the over-rate in the game against Punjab on Tuesday night. This is their second such offence and a third will mean that Tendulkar will be banned for a game.
Each of the players of the team were also slapped with a USD 10,000 fine. In a statement issued on Wednesday, the IPL said: "Mumbai Indians have been fined for maintaining a slow over rate during last night's IPL match against Kings XI Punjab in Mumbai."
At the end of the match, Mumbai Indians were assessed to be one over behind the required rate after allowances were taken into consideration.
Mumbai next take on Deccan Chargers on April 3 at the Brabourne Stadium, which will also be their sixth home game. Any slip-up in the over-rate in that game means they will miss Tendulkar in their away game against Chennai on April 6.
